AR-15 .22 LR Tactical Rifles
This page will be the center for AR-15 Tactical 22's that are not mass produced factory produced offerings. We will instead cover custom built using either .22 long rifle conversion kits or upper revievers.
AR-15 .22lr Dedicated Upper Recievers
There are several manufacturers currently offering complete AR-15 Upper Recievers. Styles and varieties vary as does cost. Heres a list of what we are aware of.
AR-15 .22lr Dedicated Barrels
There is nothing more crucial to accuracy then a rifle's barrel (and trigger). A quality barrel will have a chamber and crown cut accurately. The rifling will be cut clean and consistant and the barrel will be made from quality alloy to last a lifetime and not deflect from heat. This does not mean you have to spend a lot of money. If you stick with any of the familiar or reputable brands you should do fine unless your after benchrest competition accuracy. If your unsure use google. All the manufacturers or gunsmiths I mention here have good reputations and satifactory customer history. If theres anything negative or I have no information I will point it out. If you are after benchrest competition type accuracy there are a few folks making custom precision .22lr barrels but be prepared to dig much deeper into your wallet.
AR-15 .22lr Dedicated Lower Recievers
To the best of my knowledge only one company offers a dedicated lower reciever to build your own .22 lr AR-15. Spikes Tactical. I believe the only difference between this reciever and a standard unit is the side is stamped "caliber .22lr" rather then "caliber .223-5.56"
