Received MBUS sights
« on: August 25, 2011, 09:03:19 AM »

and as imschur warned me they won't work on the CMMG Sierra upper without a front sight riser. Says not compatible with railed gas blocks on the back of the package.
The crappy Ncstar sights that these are to replace are compatible with a railed gas blocks.
I'll order the adapter block that imschur suggested because the MBUS are so much more solid and better looking than the the Ncstars.

Ordered the Yankee Hill Machine #230 riser from Joe Bob Outfitters that will adapt the Magpul sight to my railed gas block. $32.95 + 6.95 shipping.

Ordered the YMH-230 riser from Joe Bobs Outfitters on Thurs and received it today (Sat). Fast shipping.
Here's what it looks like.
Rifle is at home so mounting will have to wait.

Riser worked perfectly, nearly. Had to file off a couple thousandths from the bottom inside corner of the left clamping dog. Very minor indeed, I had to study it awhile just to notice it needed this.
Co-witnesses with the holosight.

I think I'd move that gas block forward just a enough to get the riser fully back on the gas block.
As a side effect, this would also give you a slightly longer sight radius.
