I'm pretty fond of my vertical grips. Looks like the solution to a nonexistent problem to me.

It might be good for someone who cannot turn their wrists far enough to get a full grip of the foreend, and doesn't want a full vertical grip...??

If you read the description it sounds real good - reduced fatigue when spending a long time in the ready position. Probably won't be doing a lot of that with my .22 ;D. I would like to try one - it seems it would be more natural to hold the forearm that way. But it also looks to take up a bunch of rail space...

I've got mixed feelings about them so far ... I bought 2 of them just to try them out on a couple of my AR's, since I'm not a big fan of VFG's. I haven't got to do much shooting lately so I'll have to get more trigger time to determine if they stay or go.

There is more thought behind it in terms of fire control. Using a vert grip does not control the barrel well. Unless you use the vert grip for reference. Like Chris Costa shows in his Magpul Dynamic classes.

I use the Magpul AFG on my AR so I got one for my Sig 522. I'm not much of a vert grip person except for on my AK where I feel like I can be a little less precise and get the job done.

I bought an AFG2 off Amazon, got an AFG1 from the company, called NORCO.  Sent them a nasty email about the Gen1/Gen2 differences, they let me know they were told the models were the same, replied that they would send back half my purchase price.  I said ok.

The name struck a memory cell so I hit google and found this about a different Magpul product.

Quote
I received this product from Norco USA and it is not made by Magpul. There is a separate company out of China called Magpul PTS, which makes cheap versions of Magpul products specifically for airsoft.  This is the Magpul PTS product and should not be confused with genuine Magpul. This product is made for airsoft, not your firearm.  I have contacted the company about changing the listing to reflect the actual product being sold.

I wonder if this applies to the AFG too. Pretty sleazey of them if that's the case.

I have one and like it.

The key to use one is to use the sling and the MagPul AFG together. If you have a side mounted sling far forward, and the AFG two slots behind it on the bottom its works like a hand stop in HP or Any-Any rifles.

 Its a great tool.

Yup, I scoured this and saw on the inside rail line it was indeed stamped Magpul PTS.  It will serve fine on the M&P 15-22.  Since they refunded me half the purchase price, it will be fine.

So, it feels different to hold, but seems like a good hold position for tactical handling.  Even better that I'm trying it out on the 15-22, since it serves as kind of a trainer anyway.

I've used one at work and I loved it! I passed it around to af ew guys at the range that are notorious for "chicken-winging" their rifles. It definately cut down on that. I had my wrist rebuilt a few years back, so it is a much more comfortable shooting grip for me.
